Club History

The King’s Lynn Warriors Swimming Club was first formed on the 1st January 1993, following the merger between the former Gladiators Swimming Club and the King’s Lynn Swimming Club, which both ceased on 31st December 1992

The Swimming club is now based at the St James’ Swimming and Fitness Centre in Blackfriars Street, King’s Lynn.
In earlier years, competitive swimming in King’s Lynn was based in the outside pool situated in the Walks public park, a short walk over the road from the current pools’ location.

A little of the history of the club was brought back to King’s Lynn through a bequest of the late Mr Thomas Megitt, who left the Fermoy Cup to the club in February 2004.

Mr Megitt swam in the relay team at the Schools Gala that was then held in the Walks open-air pool and after winning the cup three times, Lord Fermoy presented him with the trophy to keep in 1937. Mr Megitt treasured the cup for the rest of his life and left it to the club in his will. The trophy is now presented to the swimmer who shows the most improvement in their PB time’s in the annual County Relay competition.
